3 Steps to Increase Community Engagement

Close-up of extended hand for a handshakeLooking for ways to increase community engagement for your business? Successful business owners know that becoming a staple of the community is not only good citizenship, but also good business. Check out some tips for growing your business in your community

  1. Get the Word Out – You may take it for granted that people in your town know who you are and what you do, but it’s likely that many folks don’t know about all of your services or products. Join the local Chamber of Commerce, networking group, or Rotary Club to give a coffee talk or sit on a panel about your industry.
  2. Show Up – Local festivals, fairs, and fun runs often welcome local businesses to set up a booth. Draw people in with giveaways (preferably with branded swag) that are relevant to your business. Or you could run a charity raffle to give away a service or product. Talking up the raffle prize is a great way to educate people about your services! If you run a restaurant or bar, sign up for the local restaurant week so people can try the delicious menu items you’re whipping up with your Quik n’ Crispy.
  3. Connect with Local Media – Most towns have a community calendar website run by the city, local Chamber of Commerce, or a local magazine. Be sure to submit your events to these calendars. You should also release a press release or contact the local news or radio station if you have a major event. If you partner with any nonprofits, make sure you publicize your fundraisers! Not only is this good press, but it will also draw more attention (and donations) to your cause.
